Country Universities Centre – Ovens Murray is here to support local students.

06 Dec 2022

CUC Ovens Murray opened this year in Wangaratta, Mansfield and Corryong and has already supported over 50 students in their education journey.

Whatever course you are studying, through any university or higher education provider, CUC Ovens Murray can support you. Our facilities have dual screen computers, reliable fast internet, printing and a quiet dedicated study space for registered students to use for free. We are funded by the Federal Government to support higher education students studying in regional Australia. Students can access the centre seven days a week from 7am to midnight and can use the centre when they need. This is great for students studying online or for on-campus students returning home for the weekends or breaks, or a combination of both, the CUC is here for you.

Wangaratta local Kate Angikiamo was one student who benefitted from the CUC this year. She has just completed her Master of Speech Pathology through the University of Canberra and was a regular user of the facility. Kate said,

The CUC provided me a place to study in the evenings and on weekends that was away from the interruptions of small children at home. The facility had a great bookable space for my three exams, and it took the burden off the cost of printing.

CUC Ovens Murray Centre Manager Mark van Bergen said the site in Wangaratta means that local students will be able to obtain a degree without leaving home, but still have access to campus-like facilities and academic support.

Reflecting on her experience, Kate said,

It can be isolating to be a regional student; so it was great to have Mark, Roxanne and Naomi at the CUC to chat with. I also received in-person support from the learning advisor regarding my research paper.
